Gibela has committed to drive meaningful Economic Development throughout fulfilment of the PRASA project. In order to simplify the process of monitoring and reporting on Economic Development across the project and its many suppliers, Gibela has developed a web-based application built on top of the industry-leading Mpowered BEEtoolkit platform.
This Economic Development (ED) Reporting and Monitoring Tool is designed to make the process of tracking your ED progress as easy as possible.
Accessing the tool
By now, you will have received an email containing your login details and a link to the system. Once you've logged in, you'll see a dashboard with two sets of icons.
The top row of icons represent the components of the Gibela ED Reporting and Monitoring Tool. You will use these components each month as you track and report on your ED activity. These are the components that Gibela have developed and are available at no charge.
The second row of icons represent a collection of BEE management components that are available for you to purchase from Mpowered. These components are an optional extra that you can use to manage your BEE status and prepare for BEE verification.
Using the ED Reporting and Monitoring Tool
There are, essentially, two ED activities that you'll be using the ED Reporting and Monitoring Tool for:
- Setting your commitments; and
- Tracking your ED progress
Setting your commitments
Setting your commitments is a once-off exercise. When you receive your login details, you’ll be invited to access the commitment tracker and establish your ED targets for the rest of the contract period.
Once you have set your commitments, and the Gibela ED team have reviewed them, the commitments will be locked and will not be editable unless the Gibela ED team unlocks them again.
Your ED commitments will be available as a reference throughout the ED Reporting and Monitoring Tool. These references will help you track your ED status in real-time, ensuring that you stay on top of your obligations.

Tracking your ED progress
Tracking your ED progress will happen on a monthly basis. At the beginning of each month, you'll be reminded to log in to the ED Reporting and Monitoring Tool and load your ED data for the previous month.
The ED Reporting and Monitoring Tool will provide you with Excel templates that will assist you to import the data for each of the ED pillars quickly and easily.
Your monthly ED data will be grouped into quarters and will feed into a quarterly ED report that will be available to you and Gibela in the ED Reporting and Monitoring Tool.
